Assam Police SI Physical Test 2026: Complete PET & PST Details, Standards & Marks
Your all-in-one guide to the Assam Police Sub-Inspector Physical Test — height standards, race timings, long jump marks, medical criteria, NCC bonus, and required documents.
The Assam Police SI Physical Test 2026 is a crucial stage in the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment conducted by the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam. It consists of two parts: the Physical Standard Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates who clear the written exam are called for this stage in order of merit — at the rate of 5 times the number of vacancies per category.
With 40 marks on the line in the PET alone, the physical test stage can significantly decide your final rank and selection outcome. This guide covers every detail you need — from the exact height and chest measurements to race timings, long jump scoring, NCC bonus marks, medical disqualification criteria, and the complete list of documents to carry on test day.
Assam Police SI Physical Test 2026 – Overview & Stages
The physical test is held after the written examination. Candidates shortlisted from the written exam based on merit (5× vacancies per category) must attend both PST and PET on the same day at designated centres. The two stages work as follows:
Written Examination (100 Marks)
OMR-based objective test. Top 5× vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted for the physical test.
Physical Standard Test (PST) – Qualifying
Height, weight, and chest (males) are measured. Carries no marks. Candidates must meet the minimum standards to proceed.
Preliminary Medical Checkup (at PST venue)
A Medical Officer checks for physical deformities, vision, colour blindness, flat feet, varicose veins, and knocked knees on the spot.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – 40 Marks
Race (20 marks) and Long Jump (20 marks). Marks are awarded based on time/distance achieved. NCC bonus marks also added here.
Oral / Viva-Voce – 5 Marks
Top 2× vacancies (Written + PET combined score) are called for the final interview stage.
Physical Standard Test (PST) 2026 – Height, Weight & Chest
The PST is the first physical hurdle. It uses modern measurement technology to record height, weight, and chest measurements (for male candidates only). Failure to meet the minimum standard at this stage results in immediate disqualification from further rounds.

Preliminary Medical Checkup at PST Stage
Immediately after the physical measurements, a Medical Officer conducts a preliminary examination at the PST venue itself. Any physical deformity detected at this stage leads to disqualification from all further tests. The following conditions are checked:
Vision Test
Distance vision must be 6/6 in one eye and not worse than 6/9 in the other, without correction.
Colour Blindness
Candidates must not be colour blind or squint-eyed. Near vision must also be normal.
Knocked Knee
Candidates with knocked knees are disqualified as it affects physical performance on duty.
Flat Foot
Flat foot is a disqualifying condition during the preliminary medical checkup.
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are treated as a temporary disqualification. Candidates may seek treatment and reapply in future recruitments.
Other Deformities
Any physical deformity that may interfere with the efficient discharge of police duties leads to disqualification.

Physical Preparation Tips for Assam Police SI 2026
The PET carries 40 marks which can directly affect your final rank. Start physical preparation months in advance using these expert tips:
Start Running Early
Begin with 800 m daily and gradually build up to 1600 m. Focus on completing the race in under 5 minutes for full marks.
Practice Long Jump Regularly
Work on your approach run, take-off technique, and landing form. Consistent jumps above 440 cm (male) or 342 cm (female) secure 14+ marks.
Control Your First Jump
In competition, your first long jump attempt should be a controlled safe jump that crosses the minimum. Use the 2nd and 3rd attempts to push your best distance.
Address Medical Issues Early
If you have flat feet, knocked knees, or varicose veins, consult a doctor well before the physical test. These are disqualifying conditions under medical checkup.
Build Stamina & Strength Together
Combine running training with leg strength exercises like squats, lunges, and plyometrics. Strength builds long jump distance; stamina builds race speed.
Prepare Documents in Advance
Get all documents ready at least 2 weeks before the test. Make self-attested photocopies of each document and organize them in a folder for easy access.
