🎯Preparation Tips & 6-Month Study Plan

Month 1–2

Build Subject Foundations

Start with Mathematics and English basics. These are the most formula-driven and rule-based — getting fundamentals right early pays dividends across all mock tests.

Month 3–4

Master Assam GK Deeply

Assam-specific topics (history, culture, geography, current schemes) are tested across all papers. Read Assam Year Book 2026, follow Assam government news, and make concise notes.

Month 5

Solve Previous Year Papers

ADRE 2.0 (2024) question papers are the best preparation tool. Solve 3–4 full papers under timed conditions. Identify weak areas and revise those topics intensively.

Month 6

Mock Tests & Final Revision

Take 2–3 full mock tests per week. Review every wrong answer. Create a formula/fact sheet for quick last-minute revision. Stop studying new topics in the last 2 weeks.

Tip 05

Respect Negative Marking

–0.25 per wrong answer means every wrong question costs you 1.25 effective marks (1 lost + 0.25 deducted). Skip questions you are less than 60% confident about.

Tip 06

Graduate Level: Prioritise RC

For Paper 4, the Reading Comprehension section (50 marks, 2M each) is the biggest opportunity. Read one newspaper editorial daily. RC speed and accuracy can be built with daily practice over 3–4 months.

Tip 07

Reasoning: No Memorisation Needed

Reasoning requires technique, not memory. Learn the pattern for each question type (syllogisms, seating, coding), practice 20 questions daily, and your speed will double in 4 weeks.

Tip 08

Daily Current Affairs: 15 Minutes

Read one newspaper or use a daily current affairs app for 15 minutes every day. Focus on Assam-specific news, central government schemes, and important appointments.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will ADRE 3.0 notification be released?
As confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the ADRE 3.0 notification is expected to be released after the Assam Assembly Elections (expected April–May 2026). Reports suggest the government may announce 10,000 to 15,000 vacancies under ADRE 3.0 for both Grade III and Grade IV posts. Candidates should monitor the official SEBA/ASSEB website (sebaonline.org) for the official announcement.
How many papers are there in ADRE 3.0 and what are they?
ADRE 3.0 will conduct 5 written papers: Paper 1 (Class 8 – Grade IV), Paper 2 (HSLC – Grade IV), Paper 3 (HSSLC – Grade III), Paper 4 (Graduate – Grade III), and Paper 5 (HSLC Driver – Grade III). Each paper has a different set of subjects, question count, total marks, and difficulty level.
What is the difference between Grade III and Grade IV in ADRE?
Grade IV posts require Class 8 or HSLC qualification — these include peons, helpers, and support staff. The exam has 135 questions for 135 marks in 2.5 hours. Grade III posts require HSSLC, Graduate, or specific qualifications — these include clerks, assistants, and technical posts. Grade III exams have 150 questions for 150–175 marks in 3 hours.
Why does the Graduate Level ADRE paper carry 175 marks instead of 150?
In Paper 4 (Graduate Level), 25 questions from the Reading Comprehension and English Language section carry 2 marks each, totalling 50 marks. The remaining 125 questions carry 1 mark each (125 marks). Total: 175 marks for 150 questions. No other ADRE paper has 2-mark questions.
Is Reasoning included in Grade IV ADRE papers?
Yes. Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning is included in both Grade IV papers (Class 8 and HSLC levels). At the Class 8 level, questions are at the elementary difficulty of basic series, analogies, and pattern recognition. At the HSLC level, topics include coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, and basic syllogisms.
What is the negative marking structure in ADRE 3.0?
For all 1-mark questions (which covers all questions in Papers 1, 2, 3, and 5, and most of Paper 4): –0.25 marks per wrong answer. For the 2-mark Reading Comprehension questions in Paper 4 only: –0.50 marks per wrong answer. There is no penalty for unattempted questions.
What subjects are in the ADRE Driver Paper (Paper 5)?
Paper 5 (Driver posts) has 6 subjects: General Knowledge, Social Studies, General English, General Mathematics, Logical Reasoning & Mental Ability, and the exclusive Road Transport section covering traffic rules, vehicle regulations, and road safety. All 150 questions carry 1 mark each.
Can a candidate apply for both Grade III and Grade IV in ADRE 3.0?
Yes. If a candidate meets the educational qualification for both Grade III and Grade IV posts, they can apply for both separately. They will need to appear in the respective papers for each grade. Each application and exam is independent of the other.
In which language is ADRE conducted?
ADRE 3.0 is expected to be conducted in Assamese, English, Bengali, Bodo, and Hindi — the same languages as ADRE 2.0. Candidates can attempt the paper in any of these languages. Assamese and English are the most widely used mediums.
Final Word: ADRE 3.0 is expected to be the biggest government recruitment drive in Assam in 2026. With 10,000–15,000 vacancies across Grade III and Grade IV, the competition will be fierce — but a structured, syllabus-focused preparation strategy gives you a decisive edge. Understand which paper you are appearing for, study the exact subjects and topics for that level, prioritise Assam GK, practice previous papers, and respect negative marking. Start early, stay consistent, and you have every chance of securing a government post in Assam.
