Assam D.El.Ed. Admission 2026 – Eligibility Criteria & Online Application

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, has officially announced the admission process for the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Course for the session 2026–2028. This course is designed to train aspiring teachers across NCTE-recognized institutes (DIET/CTE/Normal School/BTC/Pvt. TEIs) in Assam. To secure a seat, candidates must appear for the Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026.

SCERT D.El.Ed. Admission Overview

The D.El.Ed. A course is a mandatory qualification for those aiming to teach at the elementary level. As per the Justice Verma Commission recommendations, the Pre-Entry Test (PET) is the only pathway for selection into this 2-year diploma program.

  • Total Intake Capacity: 4,150 seats.
  • Total Participating TEIs: 64 Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Residency Requirement

Applicants must be permanent residents of Assam.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/Council.
  • Minimum Marks: At least 50% marks in aggregate (excluding extra/optional/fourth subjects).
  • Relaxation: A 5% relaxation in aggregate marks is provided for candidates belonging to SC, ST(P), and ST(H) categories.

3. Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years.
  • Maximum Age: 34 years.
  • Relaxation: 2 years of relaxation for SC, ST(P), and ST(H) candidates.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The PET 2026 will be a Computer-Based/objective-type test consisting of 100 questions (100 Marks) to be completed in 2 hours.

Section I (35 Marks)

  • General English (10 Marks): Vocabulary, grammar, voice change, narration, comprehension, etc.
  • General Knowledge (15 Marks): Current affairs, Constitution of India, History/Geography of Assam, Sports, and Everyday Science.
  • Reasoning (10 Marks): Logical and analytical reasoning.

Section-II (65 Marks)

  • General Mathematics (15 Marks): Fractions, percentages, profit/loss, geometry, data handling, square roots, ratio & proportion, algebra.
  • General Science & EVS (15 Marks): Environment, pollution, biodiversity, cell structure, matter, chemical reactions, energy, weather, and light.
  • Social Science (20 Marks): Natural/human resources, Freedom movement, Ahom kingdom, Democracy, Constitution, Economics, Transport, and Communication.
  • Language (15 Marks): Language learning objectives, grammar (Sandhi, Nattabidhi, etc.), and reading comprehension.

Note: There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.

Application Process

  1. Visit Portal: Go to the official SCERT PET website: scertpet.co.in.
  2. Registration: Click on “New Registration” to generate your login credentials.
  3. Application: Log in with your Application Number and Password to fill in personal and educational details.
  4. Document Upload: Upload required documents (Max 450 KB for certificates, 100 KB for photo/signature).
  5. Payment: Pay the application fee of Rs. 600 via Internet Banking, Credit/Debit card, or Wallet.
  6. Final Submission: Submit and download/print the application form.
