Age Limit
The age limit for SSC CGL 2026 varies depending on the post applied for. Candidates must have been born between the dates specified below (as on the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification):

Educational Qualification
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines from a recognized university or institute: Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
All Other Posts
A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute in any subject is required. Candidates appearing in their final year of graduation can also apply; however, they must possess the essential qualification by 01st August 2026.

SSC CGL 2026 – Selection Process
Selection to SSC CGL 2026 posts is based on a multi-stage process. Candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next:
- Tier-I (CBE): Computer Based Objective Type examination open to all eligible candidates. Shortlisting for Tier-II is based on Tier-I scores.
- Tier-II (CBE): Computer Based Examination consisting of Paper-I (mandatory for all posts) and Paper-II (only for JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II posts).
- Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test: Applicable for certain posts such as Tax Assistant (Data Entry Speed Test), Assistant Section Officer (Computer Proficiency Test), and others as specified in the official notification.
- Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted after all computer-based stages will be called for document verification to confirm their eligibility and category.
- Medical Examination: Applicable for specific posts such as Sub Inspector (CBI) and Inspector posts where a medical fitness standard is prescribed by the recruiting department.
The final merit list is prepared based on the normalized scores of the Computer Based Examinations. There is no re-evaluation or re-checking of scores at any stage.
